Young people and sexual health
Young people can, and do, have healthy sexual relationships. FPQ's Timely Topic for November highlights some of the key sexuality needs of young people both in Australia and overseas.
People who work with young people can play a key role in helping young people to develop the knowledge and skills they require to be able to make healthy and informed decisions about sexual relationships. November's Timely Topic also contains information about some of the resources available to support young people.
Young people have told FPQ that when it comes to education programs about sexual health, they want information about developing relationships and negotiating sexual activity. What have young people told you they want from education programs? When, and how, should young people start thinking about consent to sexual activity? What experiences have you had in interacting with young people about consent to sexual activity?
FPQ's High Talk learning package contains lesson plans and activities that can be used to teach young people about sexuality. Lesson 10.3 Negotiation Skills has activities about negotiating sexual activity and consent. Tell us about other strategies that you have found useful.
